Why Hereditas Exists

The problem is well-known:
nine out of ten family fortunes don’t survive three generations.

But the solution isn’t.

Most people assume the problem is poor investment returns, excessive taxes, or bad legal advice.
It’s not.

The problem is that beneficiaries aren’t prepared for what they inherit. They haven’t developed the knowledge, relationships, wisdom, and capabilities needed to manage and sustain wealth effectively.

Traditional Estate Planning focuses entirely on documents and tax efficiency. It prepares the inheritance for the beneficiaries – but not the beneficiaries for the inheritance.

That’s the gap Hereditas was created to fill.

Our Approach

We bring structure, process, and guidance to Legacy Planning through a coaching-based approach that integrates best practices from wealth management, family governance, and human development.

Through the Hereditas Process, we help individuals and families:

  • Clarify their values and vision
  •  Develop the people who’ll carry their legacy forward
  • Align resources, plans, and relationships around shared purpose
  • Build a culture of stewardship that adapts and endures

This isn’t traditional financial or legal advice. It’s a coaching-based, relationship-centred approach that helps you work more effectively with your existing advisers whilst preparing the people who matter most.

Who We Work With

Individuals & Families
People who recognise that legacy is about more than money – it’s about impact, values, relationships and the capabilities of the people who’ll inherit what you’ve built.

Professional Advisers
Forward-thinking legal and financial professionals who want to bring deeper value to their client relationships and help families achieve better long-term outcomes.

Whether you introduce clients to Hereditas or train as a practitioner yourself, we provide the framework, tools, and support to deliver values-based legacy planning.

Our Founders

Andrew Dodson and Mark Pritchard-Jeffs co-founded Hereditas because we saw a glaring gap in the UK wealth management sector.

Whilst there are large numbers of highly qualified legal and financial professionals who specialise in delivering traditional “Estate & Inheritance Tax Planning” services, the “clogs to clogs” phenomenon persists – the majority of newly created wealth fails to survive intact beyond the third generation.

Why? Because traditional estate planning services do not address the root cause – the vast majority of beneficiaries simply haven’t been adequately prepared for the power and responsibility that inherited wealth brings.

With over 70 years of combined experience in wealth management, personal development and legacy planning, we share the conviction that meaningful legacies can only be built and maintained through developing the key people and managing the key relationships.

Our Vision

We believe everyone has the potential to create lasting, positive impact that extends beyond their lifetime.

Our vision is a world where legacy planning is not a luxury but the norm – where families thrive across generations because they plan with shared values, purpose, and foresight.

Legacy planning transforms the simple transfer of wealth into an ongoing process of transitioning wisdom and impact – ensuring your wealth endures and has meaning for generations to come.

Our Philosophy

At the heart of Hereditas lies a belief in human agency – our capacity to choose, to shape and to influence the future through our intention and our collaboration.

We see wealth, in all its forms, as both the cause and effect of wise choices, strong relationships and shared values.

Legacy planning isn’t a one-off event. It is a living process: reflective, adaptive and continually evolving through learning, connection and care.

By connecting what you’ve built with what you want to achieve, the Hereditas Legacy Planning Process helps you shape a Living Legacy – one that serves you and those you care about most – and that grows and adapts in the hearts and minds of each subsequent generation.
